Sheeting & Slitting

A.J. Rubber & Sponge Ltd. employs several in-house machine services including sheeting and slitting for sponge gaskets and seals manufacturing. Slitting is a style of cutting where extremely sharp rotary blades / knives on flatbed presses (or otherwise) are used to cut large rolls or sheets of non-metallic sponge material. Straight lines are precisely cut lengthwise into the material so as to create narrower widths of sponge. During the sheeting and slitting process, the rotary blades can be adjusted to produce strips of differing widths for sponge gaskets and seals fabrication. Slitting blades are configured specifically for each required job, during which three critical determinants of the blade configuration are taken into account:

  • The type of material to be slit
  • The work piece material thickness
  • The specific tolerances that must be held while slitting
