Kiss Die Cutting

Kiss die cutting is a form of die cutting wherein a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backed sponge gasket or seal is partially cut through, allowing it to retain its pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing as well as its release liner (typically of paper or plastic) for a "peel and stick" application upon use. All sponge gaskets and seals fabricated during our kiss die cutting process simply peel cleanly and evenly from their liner, the perfect solution for industrial or commercial clients that need to frequently adhere their sponge gaskets and seals to their finished product. Kiss die cutting makes sponge gasket and seal transportation easier, it reduces any risk of damage during shipment, and they can easily be rolled up on their liner for convenient storage or dispensing.

At A.J. Rubber & Sponge Ltd., kiss die cutting is available for all adhesive backed pieces, or for those non-adhesive materials that come pre-cast on a paper release liner. For the non-adhesive materials that require kiss-cutting but do not come pre-cast, a low tack plastic film is incorporated to provide the release liner. Our modern, fully-automated kiss die cutting presses enable us to ensure precision kiss die cut pieces; there are never any missed-cut, partially-cut or double-cut pieces, and we always maintain a consistent gap between each piece. Any kiss die cutting jobs can be customized in such a way that only the final pieces are attached to the release liner, allowing the scrap material to be easily removed so that only useable custom gaskets and seals remain on the roll for convenient application.
